An engaging illustrated narrative with a layer of interaction and gamfication!

How do you take traditional e-learning to a higher level? That’s what we set out to do for AkzoNobel.

We covered a wide variety of topics like the perception, mixing and meaning of color. All of these topics were incorporated into an engaging and fully illustrated narrative that makes it all easier to understand and remember. Combined with a layer of interaction and gamification for a more pleasurable experience.

After researching the target group and their mindset when going into an e-learning, we described their experience and how our redesign of the e-learning would improve their behavior.

The goal was to make the content more personal. There's a difference between being told what color can do, and being able to experiment with it yourself. These are the types of activities we added to the e-learning. We made a combination of facts and storytelling with activities.

Experiment With Color

Designing a learning experience is an iterative process. Apart from researching the target group and adapting the content to their needs, making e-learning engaging through visuals, storytelling, and interactivity is just as important (if not more).

We use storyboarding to outline the entire e-learning using design software, primarily Adobe XD, facilitating discussions with clients. Following this, we develop a look & feel that fits the target audience and the project, working iteratively until all stakeholders, including the learners, clients, and ourselves, are satisfied.

This color ambassador program is amazing for us, because I visit architects every day and they ask me about my opinion as a color company worker.
